Recently, I have read A Beautiful Fall by Alicia Drake which many of you may already be familiar with. It chronicles the careers and rivalry between Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent from the very beginning of their careers to the present. The two have been rivals since they began their careers both winning The Wool Secritariat Honors in the 1950's. Even though there was much interaction between the two and their respective cliques, the tension never abated. The funeral for YSL was yesterday and Hubert de Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Alber Elbaz, John Galliano, Sonia Rykiel, Stefano Pilati, Christian Lacroix and Vivienne Westwood all attended. Karl however sent this bouquet and was "away on business". Kind of scandalous, no?
The card reads: "For Yves, a souvenir of our youth."

oooh...that's a juicy tidbit.
Oh, Karl! He seems like a bit of a drama-monger, doesn't he?
Maybe there was more to this rivalry then meets the eye? especially if he didn't attend...
maybe ysl would not have wanted him there...
sounds like lots of drama between the two designers!
what a drama-its a shame he didn't attend, just to show respects, but maybe it went a lot deeper.
Such an intriguing message.
it's a great read.
lagerfeld is clearly a dick!
a little one.
r.i.p. YSL
for those who've read A Beautiful Fall this should make perfect sense!
