Finally, leaving fashion & styling to the experts..... good decision.

Cri De Coeur: Cute Shoes, Murder-Free

Unless you want to shop at Payless, it seems that if you want any fashion forward vegan footwear you're gonna have to pay for it and since Natalie Portman's line for Te Casan is already almost sold out, there is this alternative. Cri De Coeur has come out with some really cute pieces and if your gonna shell out $200 for sandals you might as well do so without murdering anything. Plus, for every pair of shoes you buy, The Carbon Fund will plant a tree to offset the carbon emissions.

Catherine Holstein in Lula #6
I loved Catherine Holstein S08 collection and I love that Lula interviewed her in the #6 issue because they suit each other perfectly. Her fall line is equally cute and is perfect for the grade school geeky girl in all of us. I guess you know you made it when Forever 21 knocks off one of your pieces. Congrats, Catherine.

Big Karl in "Karl Lagerfeld is Never Happy Anyway"
Haven't yet watched this documentary myself but here is "Karl Lagerfeld is Never Happy Anyway" in all 6 parts starring Uncle Karl during his fat period."German documentary filmmaker Gero von Boehm’s career profile and lively interviews present a creative snapshot, capturing of one of the last kings of the fashion world working tirelessly at what he loves."

Nina Ricci S08 Ad Campaign
Disheveled party girls coming home at dawn looking even better than when they left. The campaign stars Karlie Kloss and Courtney Smerski and was shot by Mario Sorrenti. The headbands are perfection as are the clothes of course.

Famewhoring and Confusing Me Silmultaneously

If you hurry over to Cobra Snake you can become the proud owner of a shirt just like this one via a Cobra Snake/Cory Kennedy/Ksubi collaboration. It comes in "Cory size only" aka... men's medium and is a mere $109. 1990? Paris Hilton? I dunno... There are only 250 of them so you know what to do.

So That's How They Do It
Upon my return to NYC after a longer than usual absence one of the first things I do is go to Chinatown to get some badly missed Chinese food (since the Chinese food in Berlin is rather unbearable). This past month however, my experience differed a great deal as it became impossible to walk through the streets without someone shoving a paper with pictures "designer" bags in my face and yelling "Gucci!" "Chloe!" "Prada!" and practically dragging me down into some hole where they apparently keep their stash. I am one of those all or nothing people who believes that unless I can afford a real 255, I would rather carry something I can afford rather than shaming myself by buying some pleather nonsense. Turns out that due to some sharp police work the NYPD finally figured out what every person in NY already knew for decades, you can get counterfeit bags in Chinatown... surprise! Now they are cracking down on these guys, but in case you're wondering how these bags actually make their way into the center of Manhattan..... here's how.

Why Polaroid.... Why??

Fashion people everywhere may go ahead and start crying now because Polaroid will stop producing its instant cameras by the end of next year. Nooooooooooooooooo! Their first instant camera was made in 1948. Run, don't walk to eBay to stock up on film. Can't imagine what casting directors will do now. Let's hope someone will license the technology and restart production before they fade away forever.

Lula #6 S/S 2008 with Siri Tollerød
More from the lovely goodness that is Lula and in this case, with debatably my favorite new school London designer, Christopher Kane and his S08 Crocodile Dundee collection.

Trembled Blossoms, a Short Film by Prada
Check out the film that goes with the S/S08 Prada collection. Very reminiscent of this, don't you think? Directed by James Lima and produced by Hi! productions, it makes the whole collection even lovelier.

Ossie Clark Then & Now

If you were hoping for a bit more of this.... mod prints with a touch of 70's boho maxi dresses you might be a bit disappointed since the new Ossie Clark collection will not be a recreation of the old but the 2008 p.o.v. of what Ossie Clark should be turning out.

Herve Leger, Then and Now
Then (F/W 1993):

Now (F/W 2008 by Max Azria):
Try hard to ignore the awful hair and make up.... seems like someone managed to suck all the va-va-voom out of bandage dress. Why Max, why?

(ps: how great is that 1993 runway "twirl"??)
