Hannah MacGibbon, the new creative director for Chloe debuted her collection for the house which she called “Seventies and Eighties clichés,”. Love it, very Phoebe Philo Chloe.... especially the yellow scalloped hem dress. Oh, and the lace trend everyone predicted would begin after the Prada show.... here we go....

Chloë Sevginy's collection for Opening Ceremony has now been made in to a book, a flipbook actually where one can mix and match various top and bottom halves of Chloe.
"It goes from a mini little Santa Claus to wearing Chloë's outfits. It's drawings, and there's transparencies. It's just a cool little book."
I know this collection was not everyone's cup of tea but since it's introduction I have to say that I have seen lots of girls and street style photos of those who seem to have been inspired by it.
Available at Opening Ceremony, $65.

Because she will just say whatever pops into her head..... Case in point: Even though she designed Carrie's wedding dress in SATC, she recently said...
"I thought Sex and the City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw. I went to the premiere and left after ten minutes."

Mega-ferosh blogger Brianboy has more than inspired the new Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign... and as thanks for being such a superstar, Marc personally sent him the awesome piece of swag Brianboy is modeling. Who doesn't love Brianboy? I guess Marc knows the real deal too.

Fashion Dreamer tagged me yesterday and surprisingly, the questions are not even remotely fashion related. I had fun answering it although I'm not sure if I have the most original list considering I think everyone loves these songs and has for a while... The Smiths are my favorite band of all time so they are always on heavy rotation.
“List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.”

Ok, here is the thing with me. I make clothes. I design them, I make the patterns and I sew the pieces. Over the last few months I have been experimenting with this and that and working on a very small collection to sell on Etsy. I hadn't yet narrowed things down but I decided to sell all the pieces I had so far since the quest for my perfect collection can go on forever if I tried. I took photos and mentioned an upcoming sample sale and everyone here has been very kind (thank you!). Last week I had a trip planned to San Francisco so about 5 days before leaving I uploaded everything onto Etsy because I knew it would be a time consuming processes. I expected the things to just sit there until I got back from San Fran at which point I would make some sort of effort at spreading the word but then the strangest thing happened..... the stuff started selling all by itself. The items in my sample sale section all sold out in a couple of days. One item in particular, the "Jimmy Dress", received the most attention and requests. Who knew???
(Jimmy Dress short sleeve version (L), tunic version(R).
At this time there are still a few things left in my shop and lots more to come. I am working on a pair of high-waisted denim shorts right now as well as a new backless sun dress that should be pretty dope. I also brought back a huge amount of fabric with me back from San Fran (go weak dollar!) which I am also really looking forward to working with.
So I would like to again, thank all my customers thus far and all the lovely people who made unexpected but very much appreciated posts about my collection.
Lastly, I want to add that the content of this blog will remain the same, however, I will be adding sewing and possibly pattern making tutorials in the future so if there is anything in particular anyone would like to learn, let me know in the comments and I will do my best to make it happen.

The new Albert Elbaz/Lanvin for Acne denim line has come to life faster than I expected. Some of the pieces are super chic as we all knew they would be (see bustier dress in pic #4, hello!@#$). The over-sized smoking jacket and the dresses are lovely but the jeans require further investigation especially considering they range from $550-$650, but as they say.... if you have to ask....

Sasha & Kaws Original/Fake for i-D July 08 cover. Kaws also collaborates on more editorials in this issue. It's not the first time Kaws doodled on the cover of a fashion mag, last year he featured along with Cory Kennedy on the cover of Jalouse.

Nylon has an exclusive preview of the several pieces from the A.P.C. fall collection. Nothing ground breaking in terms of their French preppy style but with A.P.C., if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Ok, maybe that 90's rave hat in the 3rd photo is kind of hard to "re-embrace".

Recently, I have read A Beautiful Fall by Alicia Drake which many of you may already be familiar with. It chronicles the careers and rivalry between Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent from the very beginning of their careers to the present. The two have been rivals since they began their careers both winning The Wool Secritariat Honors in the 1950's. Even though there was much interaction between the two and their respective cliques, the tension never abated. The funeral for YSL was yesterday and Hubert de Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Alber Elbaz, John Galliano, Sonia Rykiel, Stefano Pilati, Christian Lacroix and Vivienne Westwood all attended. Karl however sent this bouquet and was "away on business". Kind of scandalous, no?
The card reads: "For Yves, a souvenir of our youth."

I have been wanting the Martin Margiela horse print tee ever since I saw the S/S08 collection. Bad. I can't even tell you how bad. To make matters worse it's been in a billion magazine editorials taunting me over and over. The $1500 price tag has been a bit of a deterrent. For some reason I even stalked it on Net-a-Porter in case like .... maybe there was a secret 98% off sale or something. So far not yet. Well turns out I can have something very very similar for $19.95 by skipping the middleman, that person being Martin Margiela, and getting it direct for the actual artist's website. You see there's been a bit of plagerism in the MMM workshop and they borrowed these images from an artist named David Penfound. David Penfound sells tee shirts with you know, the horsies on them and if you get one in an XL, you can work some magic and add your own shoulder pads. You rock David.
