Excuse Us...

Please forgive me for the lack of updates, we've been moving this weekend, heatwave and all. Here is the lovely Tiffany looking very hot during our last few minutes in our old apt.... Normal updates resume tomorrow from this sea of boxes I'm in.

It's a Heatwave ...

It's 95° out right now and way too hot too think about clothing at all.... but I have had my eye on these necklaces by Dannijo for a while now. They are so summer perfect.

Mini Shop Update...

I did something highly unusual the other day. I actually made myself a dress. (Gasp! Such a rare occurrence.... really.) I came across this black & white Rorschach print and grabbed it instantly, I had to have have it. Of course as luck would have it, there was only a very small amount. Maybe enough for 1 dress? I would have loved to get a roll of this awesome stuff but being as I was too late I got what I could and gave the design some thought. I decided to use it as sparingly as I could and ended up with enough left over to make another of these guys. So there will only be two on the whole world, mine and one other.... the one I just added to the shop.

Just Saw: Ai Weiwei's "Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads" in front of The Plaza.

Lots of inspiring fabrics at a fabric documentary archive.

In Development: The Vintage Redux winning entry, the Jean Seberg dress from Breathless. Finding the right fabric for any project is much more of a challenge than many people realize but in this case even more so. Finding the right stripe for the right season seems like finding a needle in a haystack. I'm still looking for "the one" that would be perfect but the muslin is almost totally finished and I hope to have the sample ready very soon. In the mean time... a small peak of what's in store.

In Honor of Haute Couture Week....

I may be one of only a few that dorks out over all the haute couture sewing and construction techniques but I love this video of all the work that goes into just one look at Chanel.

In the Shop Right Now....

In the shop right now.... two brand new summer dresses I am really excited about. Although they didn't really go with my main collection shot the other week I was really lucky to come across these fabrics which are so inspiring I could resist adding them to the shop.

Top: The Sonus Cotton Shirtdress. The print is great, it resembles an ikat but more unique, the shapes kind of remind me of waveforms. You can see the detailed photo here. I'm going to try not to steal any more samples from myself as I have a limited quantity of the fabric but it would be perfect for a super hot day like today.

Bottom: The Trikona Silk Dress. I've been wanting to make a very simple design where the main feature is the print and color. This dress is a almost like an oversized tee shirt with a pocket. I love that there are no design details that interfere with the print and the color is a perfect shade of mustard. Sometimes the simplest things can me most effective.
